Camogie

Brief history of the Camogie club:

The club was formed originally by Brendan Black at Tullymore Primary School in 1952.  The team trained in Gorley Hill, a field owned by the Priory in Benburb and various locations around the parish.  The interest grew from the wider community taking in the whole of Tullysaran area.  The club first had success in winning the Junior Championship in 1956 and then later in 1971 & 1990.

In 1992 the camogie club amalgamated with the footballers to become Tullysaran GAC.  This provided a great boost to the club who then went on to win the Intermediate championship in 1995 and then again in 2006.  Most recently the senior team won the “B” Championship in 2010.  Over the years the club has been represented at County Level by various players at both senior and underage.

In 2012 the girls finally made the breakthrough to the Senior Final which unfortunately after 2 replays and 3 matches they were defeated.  Learning from this experience they saw themselves back in the final again 2013.  Again 2 matches later in the replay of the final they were victorious and got their hands on the club’s first ever Senior title.
